    The LCCC women’s soccer team won its 2017 season opener at Otero Junior College 4-0 Friday afternoon in La Junta, Colorado. La Junta, Colorado – The LCCC women’s soccer team won its 2017 season opener at Otero Junior College 4-0 Friday afternoon in La Junta, Colorado. LCCC (1-0) held Otero to just three shots in the game, while firing away 23 shots of their own. LCCC got two goals in the first half and two goals in the second half. Taylor Stoeger led LCCC in chances with five shots, putting three on goal, while Nikita Woods had four. Ellie Bowman, in her collegiate debut, had to only make one save in the shutout win. Annie Rolf gave the Golden Eagles the advantage in the 15th minute and tallied a second goal in the 17th minute on an assists from Noemi Amaro. Those two goals would be enough to give LCCC the lead at the half. Following a number of chances in the second half, the Golden Eagles extended the lead in the 80th minute on a goal from Elise Atkins and the assist going to Maria da Silvira. LCCC added the fourth goal in the 87th minute as Amaro found Woods in front of the net. LCCC will stay in La Junta and play Western Texas College on Saturday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m.
