Kylie Martin Signs with Augusta University to Play Volleyball

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Laramie County Community College volleyball player Kylie Martin has signed a National Letter of Intent with NCAA DII Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. After a strong two-year career and helping guide the Golden Eagles to back-to-back NJCAA National Tournament appearances the six-foot sophomore is ready to continue her career and studies in Georgia.

"I had been in contact with the coaches for about a month before my visit and even before I visited I had a feeling that AU was where I would be spending the next 2-3 years," said Martin. "I really enjoyed playing with the girls; I loved the coaches, and couldn't believe how pretty the town of Augusta was."  

Martin, a right side hitter for the Golden Eagles is from Gypsum, Colorado and appeared in all 41 matches this season for LCCC. She led the Golden Eagles in service aces with 59 on the year. Her 59 service aces were 13th best in the country. She was second on the team in kills with 318 on the year and a 2.18 kill per set ratio. She was also second on the team in digs with 328. Martin had two games this season where she recorded 17 kills in a match against Casper College. In her two-year career at LCCC, she recorded 695 kills and a career 2.43 kills per set.  

Kylie was named to the All-Region North First Team and the All-Region Tournament Team. She is going to major in Radiation Therapy at Augusta University.

"Coming to a junior college has helped me improve not only athletically but academically as well," said Martin. "LCCC has given me the opportunity to ensure that playing a sport at the college level is something I thoroughly enjoy. The past two years have been some of the best years of my life and I will truly miss the LCCC volleyball program."

The Jaguars finished this past season 24-8 and reached the NCAA Tournament after capturing the Peach Bell Conference Tournament Championship.
