LCCC Close Out Casper College in Four

Casper, Wyo. – Laramie County Community College dropped the first set but was able to comeback back and close out Casper College in four sets 18-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-16 in Casper, Wyo., Friday night.

The Thunderbirds (10-18 overall) jumped out early in the first set. The Golden Eagles regrouped in the next three sets, winning them in controlling fashion.

The win moves the Golden Eagles to 22-7 overall and 10-0 in the Region IX North.

Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) led the Golden Eagles with 17 kills while Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) finished with 11. Martin also had a team-high 19 digs. Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) chipped in with 10 kills.

Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) led the team with 33 assists. Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) collected 18 digs.

"This was a good road win for us as Casper is always a tough place to play," said head coach Austin Albers. "Once we got things going on the second set we looked pretty sharp and executed the gameplan well."

The Golden Eagles will face tough opponent on Tuesday. LCCC will host #19 Western Nebraska Community College at 7 p.m.
