Volleyball Splits on Day Two of WyoBraska

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team picked up a four set victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College before falling in straight sets at host #3 Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday, bringing the team's overall record to 14-5 on the year. The Golden Eagles topped the Spartans 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 before falling 19-25, 22-25, 19-25 to the Cougars.

In the opening match of the day for the Golden Eagles, Carlee Morrison and Kylie Martin led a balanced attack with 13 kills and Avery Nelson added 12, while Payton Stack chipped in with five kills. Kyra Brandt had a strong all-around match with 41 assists, 10 digs, three kills and two serves for aces. Macy Bourn had 24 digs, pushing her past 250 on the season. Morrison added 16 digs in the victory.

The Golden Eagles got 13 kills from Avery Nelson and 10 kills from Kylie Martin in the 3-0 loss to Western Nebraska, with Martin also leading the Golden Eagles with an ace on a serve. Macy Bourn added a team-high 14 digs with two assists, and Kyra Brandt added 25 assists in the defeat. Carlee Morrison had seven kills.

LCCC will be back in action on Tuesday September 19 when they travel to La Junta, Colorado to take on Otero Junior College at 6 p.m.
