LCCC Victorious Over Eastern Wyoming College

The LCCC volleyball team defeated Eastern Wyoming College, 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16), at LCCC Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Preston Lienemann led the Golden Eagle offense with 11 kills and had a kill percentage of .233 at the net. Kyra Brandt was the other Golden Eagle who posted high numbers and tallied a team-high 24 assists.

Carlee Morrison and Elizabeth Clark recorded nine kills in the match while Madi Taylor struck seven. Clark and Kiley Ridgway led the defensive effort with five total block assists and the team recorded 21 block assists.

LCCC came ready to play in the first set as they jumped to an early lead. A rally midway by Eastern Wyoming pulled them it within five points but it wasn't enough as the Golden Eagles took the set 25-15.

EWC turned the tables in the second set and was the team that pulled ahead early, 6-4. LCCC fought back and rallied to bring the set to 23-24 but the Lancers were too strong and clinched the 25-23 victory.

After the break, LCCC came out swinging and dominated the third set. The Lancers couldn't string together consecutive points and the Golden Eagles cruised to a 25-18 win.

The score was close at the beginning of the fourth set until a four-point swing in LCCC's favor gave them a comfortable lead. The Golden Eagles fought valiantly in the end came up with the 25-16 win.

As a team, the Golden Eagles struck 52 kills and recorded 3 aces on serves.

The Golden Eagles travel to Powell, Wyoming to face Northwest College on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
