Volleyball Beats Central Wyoming in Four

The Laramie County Community College volleyball team beat Region IX opponent Central Wyoming by a score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon at LCCC Gymnasium.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 17-5 on the season and 4-0 in the Region IX North Conference.

Freshman Carlee Morrison (Gypsum, Colorado) and sophomore Preston Lienemann (Loveland, Colorado) led the way for the Golden Eagles as each had double-doubles with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Freshman Kyra Brandt (Amsterdam, Netherlands) finished the match with 24 assists, Morrison and Lienemann recorded 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Laramie County outhustled the Wrestlers on the net with a 22-10 advantage in block attempts. The Golden Eagles were up a few points in the first set and used a run take control. CWC battled back but LCCC closed out the set 25-17.

LCCC jumped out to a lead in the second set and didn't look back taking it 25-15. The Wrestlers would fought back in the third set with several kills from Kenisha Muehler who led her team with 11. Serving errors hurt the Golden Eagles as they committed 13 in the match and led to CWC taking the third set 25-23.

In the fourth set, the Golden Eagles started off strong with the early advantage in the action. LCCC would take some points late in the set and win the set 25-20 and seal the match in a 3-1 win.

LCCC will look ahead to Tuesday, as the team prepares for a matchup outside of conference against Colorado Christian JV at 7 p.m. in Lakewood, Colorado.
