The Laramie County Community College volleyball team opened the Region IX North with a 3-2 win over Casper College on Saturday in Casper, Wyoming.
The Golden Eagles lost the opening set 25-23, but bounced back in the second set with a 25-14 win. LCCC jumped out to an early lead on the strength of some great combinations in front of net. Casper would take the third set 25-19. A fast start in the fourth set helped the Golden Eagles take the set 25-18. Another fast start was the story of the fifth set, as LCCC jumped ahead with the early advantage and took the set 15-7.
Laramie County is now 14-5 and 1-0 in Region IX North. Preston Lienemann posted a double-double with 19 digs and 13 kills. Carlee Morrison also had a double-double, with 15 digs and 10 kills. Kyra Brandt led the Golden Eagles with 29 assists and recorded two aces on serves.
LCCC will hit the road Tuesday for a match against No. 16 Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, Wyoming at 7 p.m.
