Volleyball Sweeps Otero JC on the Road

The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles swept Otero Junior College in straight sets Tuesday evening in La Junta, Colorado to improve to 9-3 on the season.

The Golden Eagles took set one 25-20, then had a tight one in set two but still won 25-20 and took set three in dominating fashion to win the match.

Preston Lienemann led the Golden Eagles with double-digit kills with 10. Carlee Morrison and Kiley Ridgway had nine and eight kills respectively. Kyra Brandt led LCCC with 20 assists, followed by Makenzie DiGesualdo with 14. Tori Passarelli had 13 digs to lead the group, while Morrison and Lienemann chipped in with 12.

"It was nice to get back on the court after our bye weekend and get back to winning matches," said head coach Austin Albers. "Proving that we can go on the road and play good volleyball against quality opponents is an important step toward us reaching our end of the season goals. We showed that tonight and we were happy with the result."

The Golden Eagles will be back in action this Friday for the first day of the WyoBraska Tournament. They will square off against Williston State College and Seward Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Game times are at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
