Golden Eagles Fall to Falcons

MELBOURNE, FL – #2 Laramie County Community College women's soccer (0-2) showed resiliency and grit but were unable to secure a result on Sunday falling 2-1 against #7 Daytona State College in Melbourne, Florida.

LCCC was looking to bounce back from their loss on Friday against #4 Eastern Florida and nearly did so in the closing seconds of the game but the ruling on the field was that the shot has not crossed the goal line before the horn sounded to end the game.

Noemi Amaro (Gering, Nebraska) posted the lone goal for the Golden Eagles and following up on a rebound in the 54th minute to equalize the game. Daytona State led at the half 1-0 on a penalty kick goal from Michelle O'Driscoll. For Amaro, it was her first goal of the season.

From start to finish, the white and gold was on the attack and on target as all eight of their shots were on goal but the Falcons held a 10-8 edge in shot attempts. Ellie Bowman (Essex, England) played all 90 minutes in goal and came up with two saves.

The Falcons Tayla Duffy would capitalize on a defensive mistake in the 82nd minute and net the game-winner.

The Golden Eagles will look to get back on track next Friday when they host Otero Junior College on August 31st at 11 a.m.
