Playing the final home game of the regular season, the Laramie County Community College women's soccer team recorded a 1-0 Region IX victory over Western Wyoming Community College.
After 18 minutes of play, Abby Morillon (Cheyenne, Wyoming) gave Laramie County the lead on an assist from Aubrey Gessner (Aurora, Colorado) as she split two defenders with a pass that found Morillon making a run through the middle.
Jess Urquhart (Sydney, Australia) and Kelly Morine (Denver, Colorado) didn't have to make any stops on the shots they faced to earn the 11th shutout of the season. Urquhart played 73 minutes and Morine played 17 minutes.
The Golden Eagles (15-1-1, 13-1 in Region IX) will host Northeastern Junior College at 11 a.m. Saturday in the first round of the Region IX Tournament. The Golden Eagles defeated NJC twice during the regular season.
