Golden Eagles Drop Eight Goals on Trinidad

In a rematch from earlier in the season, the Laramie County Community College women's soccer team outshot Trinidad State Junior College 34-3, and 20-2 on shots on goal in an 8-0 victory on Friday evening at LCCC field.

LCCC (9-1-1) only defeat came to the hands of Trinidad State earlier in the year on the road. Sophomore Jemma House collected a team-high 10 shots, with nine on goal. Freshman Nikita Woods added five shots, four of them on goal and four other Golden Eagles recorded three shots apiece.

Sophomore Goalkeeper Jess Urquhart started in goal and was a perfect 2-for-2 in saves. Kelly Morine came on and relieved Urquhart in the 75th minute and didn't have to make a save.

House scored her first of four goals in the 13th minute when Sarah Erickson played her a through ball and beat the keeper near post. Erickson made it 2-0 in the 20th minute on a header from a Shauni Griffiths corner kick. In the 37th minute, Shelbie Myers played a diagonal ball to Abby Morillon who settled it down and slipped it by the keeper. In the 42nd minute, Morillon crossed a ball across the six-yard box where Dani House poked it into the net for a 4-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles continued the offensive charge and posted four more goals with goal number five coming in the 63rd minute as Woods won ball from a defender and dribbled two player and beat the keeper for the goal. A minute later, Aubrey Gessner played a ball into the box and House beat both the keeper and defender and flicked it over for the goal. House would get goal number seven and eight in the 71st and 83rd minute on passes from Woods and Morillon. House now has a team-high 18 goals on the year.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 at LCCC field. The Golden Eagles will face-off with the Rattlers from Otero Junior College at 4 p.m.
