No. 6 Women's Soccer Push Past Western Wyoming

The sixth-ranked LCCC women's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to seven with a 7-0 victory over Western Wyoming Community College on Saturday.

LCCC got on the board when Natalie De Marco passed the ball to Jemma House who beat her defender and converted on the 1v1 to goal in the 13th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Shauni Griffiths sent a diagonal ball and Elise Atkins ran onto it and finshed in front of net. A minute later Shelbi Myers cleared a ball from the back line and House outran the Mustangs back line for her second goal of the game. Nikita Woods would get her first of three goals in the 35th minute as she struck a shot low and to the back post.

The Golden Eagles continue the scoring outburst in the second half, hammering out three more goals to the get the final score. Griffiths beat here defender on a pass from Woods in the 53rd minute for the fifth goal. Abby Morillon played a through ball to Woods in the 64th minute for the sixth goal. The final goal came in the 68th minute when Woods and Maria da Silveira combined in front of net. The goal to Woods gave her a hat trick for the day.

The Golden Eagles are now 7-1-1 on the year and will host Northeastern Junior College on Wednesday, September 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Cheyenne South High School.
