Women's Soccer Comes Away with a Victory and Draw in New York

The Laramie County Community College women's soccer team got the best of #7 Iowa Western Community College on Saturday with a 1-0 win in New York.

Freshman midfielder Nikita Woods (Corrimal, Australia) got the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute off a pass from sophomore Jemma House (Newcastle, Australia). Woods now has two goals in the early season.

A match that was contested in much of the midfield the Golden Eagles did still hold the shot advantage at 9-5 in the game. Goalkeeper Jess Urquhart (Sydney, Australia) recorded the clean sheet and made four saves in the match.

 

Morillon Goal Earns Draw with #4 Monroe CC

 

The LCCC women's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with #4 Monroe Community College Sunday in Rochester, New York.

The Golden Eagles now 2-1-1 on the young season, got an equalizing goal from freshman midfielder Abby Morillon (Cheyenne, Wyoming) in the 84th minute. The assist came off the boot of sophomore Shauni Griffiths (Dartford, England). Morillon's goal is her first of the season.

Urquhart stopped four shots on goal and played all 110 minutes for the Golden Eagles. LCCC outshot MCC 14-10 and led in corners 13-4.  

Next up for Laramie County will be a Region IX road game on Sept. 10 against Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado.
