LCCC women fall to Snow College 67-48 to wrap up six game road trip

PRICE, UT – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team found their groove in the second half, but it was too late as they fell 67-48 to Snow College on Saturday afternoon in the second neutral site battle between the two sides this season.

The first quarter got off to a much better start for the Golden Eagles with Lylah Spring pacing the team to a 6-6 tie in the first three minutes. The Badgers used the next three minutes to go on a 7-0 run though and pulled ahead to a 13-6 lead into the media timeout.

The good shooting continued for Snow into the end of the quarter to give them a 21-10 lead.

LCCC watched another 7-0 run open the second quarter as the Badgers continued to build on their lead to a game high 18 before Blanche Toualeu put the Golden Eagles back onto the board with an and one basket with 5:01 to play. As was the case with the first quarter though, the offense again couldn't keep the pace with Snow and by halftime the lead had grown to 39-22.

A renewed push to score inside led the momentum back onto the Golden Eagles side of the ball in the third quarter. Snow College continued to hit threes to keep LCCC from trimming the gap to single digits, but free throws and layups helped close the gap to 52-36 going into the final quarter.

The push continued into the fourth where LCCC opened with a 5-0 run to close the gap to 52-41 with 7:20 remaining. Unfortunately, that would be the closest they would get as Snow regained their mojo in the final five minutes to pull ahead for a 67-48 final score.

The duo of Toualeu and Spring combined for 36 of the Golden Eagles 48 points and Toualeu finished with a 17-point, 12-rebound double double for her second of the season. Spring finished with six rebounds and had six blocked shots, which is tied for the most in a game in program history.

The Golden Eagles had a difficult day shooting the basketball, finishing the game with just 29 percent of their shots going down and 0-13 from deep.

For the Badgers, their nine threes in the game proved to be a difference maker to overcome LCCC's 31 free throw attempts.

LCCC will have a brief break going into the holiday but will prepare to face Gillette College in the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon. More information can be found on the upcoming home schedule at www.golccc.com.
