Kruthaupt’s 22 Points Lifts Golden Eagles over North Platte CC

CHEYENNE – A 22-point effort from freshman Sarah Kruthaupt (Las Vegas, Nevada) led the Laramie County Community College women's basketball team to an 87-71 victory over North Platte Community College on Saturday, extending the Golden Eagles' winning streak to four games.

LCCC is sitting second in the Region IX South standing with a 5-2 record, 14-9 overall, while the Lady Knights fall to 1-14 overall.

This is the second time this season that Kruthaupt has topped 20-plus points. Two other LCCC Golden Eagles joined Kruthaupt in double-figures with sophomore Caylin Arnold (Strasburg, Colorado) with 19 points and freshman Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, South Dakota) with 13 points. Darian Hale (Briggsdale, Colorado) led the team with eight assists.

The Golden Eagles put up a strong shooting percentage, shooting 46.4 percent from the floor (32-for-69). LCCC was strong on the boards, pulling down a game-high 44 for the afternoon.

The Lady Knights were led by a 19-point effort from Nahatabaa Nacona. Allison Tichy and Jamesia Holliman were the two other players to land in double-figures with 16 and 10 points respectively. Lexa Lealiiee and Yaasmyn Spivey pulled down seven rebounds apiece.

North Platte shot 38.8 percent from the field and pulled down 36 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles took the early lead in the first quarter, starting out with a 17-6 run in the first five minutes. LCCC gained a 13 point lead with 3:00 minutes to go in the quarter and extended that lead to 17 with a 31-14 lead heading into the first break.

LCCC continued to shoot the ball well in the first half and would not squander the lead for the rest of the game. The Golden Eagles headed into the locker room with a 51-33 lead at the half.

The Golden Eagles controlled the second half of the game, maintaining the double-digit lead to close out with an 87-71 victory.

The Golden Eagles will hit the road on Monday, Jan. 29 as they travel to Eastern Wyoming College at 5:30 p.m.
