Golden Eagles Struggle Offensively in Loss to Otero Junior College

LA JUNTA, Colorado – Laramie County Community College was held to 31.9 percent shooting from the floor while Lucia Serrano-Ranz scored 17 points and Cydney Kreutzer added 13 points to lead Otero Junior College to a 65-45 victory over the Golden Eagles Saturday afternoon.

Laramie County went on a run in the first quarter to take a 19-13 lead after the opening 10 minutes of action. The Rattlers pushed the tempo in the second quarter and regained the lead going into halftime. LCCC kept the Rattlers within reach with OJC taking a 31-26 advantage at the break.

Jumpers for Madison Hamm and Darian Hale helped the Golden Eagles stay within reach early in the third quarter. Otero would be up 44-36 after three. The Rattlers pushed their lead to as many as 20 in the final period.

Madison Hamm led Laramie County with 12 points while Darian Hale added 10. Hamm and Katelyn Smith had a team-high five rebounds in the game. Mariah Sheets posted four assists. Caylin Arnold recorded two steals.

LCCC finished with 31.9 percent (15-of-47) shooting and a 21.1 percent (4-of-19) clip from three. Otero shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) while going 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Laramie County is back on the road next week with a Tuesday meeting at Western Nebraska CC in Scottsbluff.
