Hot Outside Shooting Lifts Eastern Wyoming past Golden Eagles

TORRINGTON, Wyoming – Eastern Wyoming College used an explosive second quarter to break away en route to a 78-60 victory over Laramie County Community College to sweep the season series Tuesday evening in Torrington.

Both teams were hot from the floor in the second half, shooting over 45 percent for the entire half. LCCC (8-12) trailed by five after the first quarter, 15-10. The Lancers would outscore the Golden Eagles 26-19 in the second quarter.

Laramie County struggled from the field in the first half shooting on 37.5 percent. Darian Hale scored in double figures as she led the Golden Eagles with 13 points. Caylin Arnold also reached double figures with 12 points. Randi Elisson and Madison Hamm dished out a team-best three assists, while Arnold pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

LCCC shot 45.2 percent from the field and were held to just 20 percent (2-of-10) from behind the arc. The Lancers owned the slim 30-28 advantage in points in the paint. Eastern Wyoming finished 46.6 percent from the floor while going 50 percent (9-of-18) from long range. Sarah Bersang led the Lancers with 36 points.

Laramie County is back on the road Friday with a 5 p.m. tipoff against Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, Colorado.
