CHEYENNE, WY – Laramie County Community College women's basketball suffered its 10th loss of the season. The 57-83 loss to Western Nebraska Community College drops the Golden Eagles to 8-10 overall.

This was the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Cougars took an early lead in a high-scoring first quarter, with WNCC leading 18-13. The Cougars came out in the second quarter and went on a run that extended the lead. Western Nebraska took a 39-24 lead into the half.

Halftime stats featured 43.8 percent shooting for the Golden Eagles with just 7-of-16 made, while the Cougars doubled the amount of shots as LCCC and connected on 14-of-32 for 43.8 percent.

LCCC trailed 59-38 after three quarters. Western Nebraska put together another strong fourth quarter to seal the victory.

LCCC's Darian Hale (Briggsdale, Colorado) led the team in scoring with 11 points on 5-of-10. She added three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Katelyn Smith (Loveland, Colorado) added nine points and seven rebounds, while Randi Elisson (Thermopolis, Wyoming) scored nine points. Kate Fiscus (Cokeville, Wyoming) tallied five assists for the Golden Eagles.

WNCC's Kellie Gaston scored 13 points and added two rebounds and steals. Teammate Sladjana Rakovic finished with 12 points.

The Golden Eagles hit 45.7 percent from the field going 20-of-41 and 4-of-14 from 3-point range for 28.6 percent. They sank 13-of-16 from the charity stripe for 81.3 percent. The Golden Eagles committed 34 turnovers in the game.

The Cougars hit 45.7 percent from the field going 32-of-72 and 6-of-21 from 3 point-point range for 28.6 percent. They sank 13-of-15 from the free-throw line for 86.7 percent.

The Golden Eagles will step away from South Sub Region play and hit the road with a game against Northwest Kansas Technical College on Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.
