Golden Eagles Record 62-57 Win at Lamar

LAMAR, CO – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team got off to a hot start and never looked back as the Golden Eagles collected their eighth win Saturday afternoon with a 62-57 victory over Lamar Community College in South Sub Region play.

The Golden Eagles (8-8, 2-3) got back into the mix of the region standing with Saturday's win and will look to get win number nine on the year Wednesday evening when the Golden Eagles host Eastern Wyoming College. Game time is 5 p.m. at the RAC.

Caylin Arnold led the Golden Eagles with 17 points while Madison Hamm had 13 points and Katelyn Smith finished with 12 as LCCC shot 42 percent (21-of-50) in the upset win over the South Sub Region leader Lopes. The Golden Eagles held LCC to just 33.3 percent from the field and forced 14 turnovers.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 16-11 lead after the opening quarter. Lamar would get back into it in the second quarter but still trailed LCCC by one at the half, 29-28. The second half would be tight throughout the rest of the game. LCCC went 8-for-20 (40%) from three point range but got outrebounded by the Lopes 32-30.
