Golden Eagles Out Run Plainswomen

STERLING, CO – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team (7-8) delivered a 70-64 win soaring fashion at Northeastern Junior College on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles started strong, taking a commanding 20-8 advantage in the first quarter. LCCC held on to that sizeable lead as the Plainswomen on were able to cut two points off lead. The Golden Eagles to a 10 point lead and ended the half with a 33-23 lead.

Laramie County continued their hot streak from the floor, shooting 40 percent in the first half. NJC could only muster 27.5 percent from the field.

Northeastern Junior College flipped the script with some streaky shooting in the third quarter but the Golden Eagles came out firing as well. After three quarter the Golden Eagles lead 52-41.

Northeastern battled right back to start the fourth quarter, with a couple of three-point baskets. The Golden Eagles countered by attacking the offensive glass and scoring on second chance points. The Plainswomen would chip at the lead but LCCC protected that lead and the Golden Eagles escaped with a 70-64 win.

Caylin Arnold was on fire and led the Golden Eagles with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Madison Hamm nearly posted a double-double as well with 13 points and nine rebounds. Mariah Sheets tailed 11 points. Darian Hale added 10 points in the win. Aubrey Goodrick finished with four assists.

The Golden Eagles will be back in South Sub Region action when they travel to Lamar Community College on January, 21 starting at 2 p.m. in Lamar, Colorado.
