CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team held Little Big Horn College to under 50 points as the Golden Eagles earned an 82-45 home win over Little Big Horn College Thursday afternoon in the RAC.
The Golden Eagles (6-7) are now riding a three-game winning streak and will look to make it a fourth consecutive win on Saturday when they visit McCook Community College. Game time is 5 p.m. in McCook, Nebraska.
LCCC took early control of the contest, grabbing a 22-7 lead in the opening period. The Golden Eagles would not trail at all throughout the game and outscored Little Big Horn 18-5 in the second quarter, to take a 40-12 lead into the locker room.
Little Big Horn made a little run in the third quarter but were still outscored by LCCC 22-17. The Golden Eagles ended up taking a 37 point victory.
LCCC finished the day shooting 49.1 percent (28-of-57) from the field while hitting 10-of-18 (55.6%) three-pointers.
Freshman Katelyn Smith led all scorers with 27 points along with pulling down six rebounds, a steal and an assist. Caylin Arnold added 17 points, five rebounds and a steal. Mariah Sheets had 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Morgan Dana pulled down nine rebounds.
