Golden Eagles Women Rally, Pull Away For 55-51 Win Over North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, NE – Trailing by six at the break, the Laramie County Community College women's basketball team clamped down defensively in the second half to earn a 55-51 road win over North Platte Community College Wednesday night in North Platte, Nebraska.

The Golden Eagles (5-7) collected their second victory in a row, and will look to get their third in a row Thursday when they host Little Big Horn College. Game time is 4 p.m. at the RAC Gymnasium.

After a back-and-forth first half, the home team Knights would secure a 26-20 lead going into the locker room.

The Golden Eagles turned things around quickly in the second half, outscoring the Knights 14-11 in the third quarter. A strong fourth quarter propelled the Golden Eagles to the victory.

Caylin Arnold and Katelyn Smith scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Golden Eagles in scoring. Madison Hamm added eight points and Mariah Sheets chipped in with seven. Arnold pulled down a team-best nine rebounds, while Sheets led in assists with two.

The Golden Eagles finished the night shooting 31.7 percent (20-63) from the floor, connecting on 6-of-16 (37.5%) from three-point range and shot 45 percent (9-20) from the free-throw line.
