Arnold Late Lay-in Lifts Golden Eagles
 

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – Laramie County Community College freshman post Caylin Arnold picked off a pass and went coast to coast to lift the Golden Eagles with a lay-up in the closing seconds of the game to give them a 77-75 OT victory against Central Wyoming College.

Arnold was the Golden Eagles leading scorer with 16 points. Darian Hale added 11 points and six assists. Morgan Dana nearly came away with a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Saturday's victory snaps the three game losing streak for LCCC (4-7). CWC opened the game with an early lead. Madison Hamm had a lay-in with 27.3 remaining in the first to give the Golden Eagles a 12-11 lead after the first quarter.

Laramie County pushed the lead to two in the opening possession of the second quarter on a free-throw attempt. The teams would exchanges leads on five different occasions in the second quarter before the Rustlers hit a three-pointer to take a 29-28 halftime lead.

Central Wyoming put together a run in the third quarter and pushed the lead to as many as seven. LCCC would chip away at the lead and only trail by three at the end the third quarter. Laramie County outscored the Rustlers 18-15 in the fourth, and the game would go into overtime. Golden Eagles never trailed in the overtime period.

Saturday marks LCCC's second victory over Central Wyoming College this season, after dropping the first meeting in Riverton back on Nov. 15.

LCCC gets back into South Sub-Region play on the road Wednesday Jan. 11, at 5 p.m. against North Platte Community College.
