Golden Eagles Fall to Casper College

Cheyenne, WY – After six days off where the Golden Eagles defeated Little Big Horn College, the Golden Eagles came out flat Tuesday evening dropping a game to Casper College 86-54.

The Thunderbirds came out and put together a good first quarter as the Golden Eagles (3-5) could not make a shot and Casper College took full advantage of the cold start and a took a 25-6 lead and closed the quarter on a 13-4 run. The Golden Eagles posted a 5-0 run to slim the lead to 14 at the half. The Golden Eagles shot 37.9% from the field and only 16.7% from the arc.

Starting the second half was similar to the beginning of the game with Casper going on a 12-4 run to take a 20 advantage with 4.31 to go in the third quarter. The Thunderbirds carved the lead 64-39 at the end of three. The Thunderbirds won the game 86-54. The Golden Eagles shot 33.9% from the field, 27.8% from the arc and 60% from the charity stripe. Turnovers hurt LCCC as they committed 20 of them with 13 in the first half.

Darian Hale led the Golden Eagles with 18 points. Madison Hamm added 11 points and seven rebounds. Caylin Arnold tacked on nine points, seven rebounds and two steals in the game. Alexus Gash chipped in with seven points and four assists.

Casper College Paula Orenes led all scorers with 19 points shooting 8-for12 and 3-for-4 from the 3pt line. Marina Fernandez contributed with 14 points and six rebounds.

The Golden Eagles face Northwest Kansas Technical College for the first of two meetings. The game will start at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8th in the Recreation Athletic Center.
