Women’s Basketball Loses 59-38 to Trinidad

Cheyenne, Wyo. - The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team (2-4) was defeated 59-38 by Trinidad State Junior College on Tuesday afternoon in their first South-Sub Region game.

Freshman post Madison Hamm finished with a team-high 12 points. She connected on six shot from the field, with four of them coming in the first half.

Freshman guard Alexus Gash scored 10 points, reaching double figures for the second game in a row. In addition, she posted five rebounds and a block.

Both team struggled shooting the first two periods, as Trinidad State clung to a 29-18 advantage at half. In the second half, the Trojans reeled off an 11-4 run to close the fourth quarter.

The Golden Eagles got to within 15 points on a layup by Hamm with 9:34 left in regulation. Trinidad State, however, made four consecutive shots to stretch the lead.

Tammarrah Gothard and Kaila Gabriel each scored 16 and 14 points respectively for Trinidad State JC.

Hamm had five rebounds to go along with her 12 points and a pair of steals. Golden Eagles leading scorer, freshman Darien Hale had seven points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

LCCC didn't take care of the basketball, committing 25 turnovers in the game. Trinidad State Junior College committed 15.

The Golden Eagles head to Little Big Horn on Wednesday November 30th for a 5 p.m. game.
