Women’s Basketball Close Weekend With 61-53 Win vs. Adams State JV

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team closed the weekend with a 61-53 victory over Adams State JV Saturday afternoon.

Both team got off to a great start. Laramie County (2-3) shot 41.4 percent (12-of-29) from the field and hit (3-of-9) attempts from 3-point range, while Adams State JV shot 12-of-39 (30.8 percent) from the field and 1-of-18 from behind the arc. Teams were tied at 15 apiece after the first quarter. Despite shooting better than the Grizzlies, the Golden Eagles trailed 30-29 at the halftime break.

Adams State JV pulled ahead by three in the third quarter, as both squads had their highest scoring quarter of the game. LCCC chipped away at the lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring Adams State JV 15-4 and were able to keep the Grizzlies at arms length.

Alexus Gash (Aurora, Colorado) and Mariah Sheets (Rawlins, Wyoming) scored a team-high 16 points apiece. Gash was 7-of-10 from the field and Sheets was 6-of-9 from the floor to lead the Golden Eagles. Madison Hamm (Fort Collins, Colorado) chipped in with 11 points. Gash added eight rebounds and eight assists to her stats on the night. Hamm also pulled down eight rebounds. Allee Williamson (Cheyenne, Wyoming) added six points and eight rebounds.

Laramie County dominated the glass outrebounding Adams State JV 42-33.

Next up for the Golden Eagles is their first home game of the season on Tuesday. LCCC will face Trinidad State Junior College at 5 p.m.
