Day 1 of Shawn Dubie Rodeo

Several LCCC rodeo athletes have a chance to make it back for the Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo finals on Sunday at the LCCC arena.

Cameron Fanning leads the steer wrestling with a 4.9 run on his first steer, and Kynadee Beck is currently in fifth place in barrel racing. Both have a good shot at making the top 12 in their events and earning a place in the finals.

Megan Turek is tied for seventh place in goat tying with a 7.8-second run, and Kerby Anderson is also tied for seventh in breakaway roping with a 3.4-second run.

Brady Joseph and Doug Finney are in seventh place in team roping. They roped their steer in 8.2 seconds on Friday during slack. Riley Simmons is on the bubble, sitting currently in 11th place with a 17.3-second run in tie-down roping.

Slack begins at 9 a.m. Saturday for the second day of the first go-around, and the final performance of the first go is at 7 p.m.

The short go begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
