Golden Eagles win third straight

RIVERTON, WY - The No. 7 ranked Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (9-1-1, 6-0-1) finished region play with a 2-0 win over Central Wyoming (2-9, 0-5) on Saturday morning.

For the second consecutive day, the Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the first half as Ethan Mathis (Cheyenne, Wyo.) gave the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, beating the keeper on a shot from 18 yards out on a pass from Bryan Vazquez (Denver, Colo.).

The Golden Eagles defense allowed just two shots on target as goalkeeper Declan Domyan (Sandton, South Africa) stopped both shots keeping the Rustlers off the scoreboard.

Chuy Gonzalez (Caldwell, Idaho) put the game out of reach, scoring a 90th-minute goal, his second of the season, off another Vazquez assist, pushing the lead to 2-0.

With the win, the Golden Eagles have now won three consecutive games and finished region play undefeated.

The Golden Eagles host Western Nebraska on Wednesday at 1:00 pm.
