Golden Eagles score five goals in win over Northwest

POWELL, WY - The No. 7 ranked Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (8-1-1, 5-0-1) scored four first-half goals on their way to a 5-0 win over Northwest (2-5-1, 1-3-1) on Friday afternoon. 

After a scoreless first 14 minutes, the Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the 15th minute thanks to Carlos Vargas (Heber City, Utah) scoring his 10th goal of the season off of an Abe Lopez (Boulder, Colo.) assist. 

Five minutes later, Omar Castruita (Boulder, Colo.) made it a 2-0 game with his sixth goal of the season off of the second assist of the game for Lopez.

The Golden Eagles weren't done scoring in the first half as Noe Ortiz-Pena (Aurora, Colo.) extended the Golden Eagles' lead to 3-0 after putting a ball past the keeper off a Tanner Smith (Northglenn, Colo.) pass in the 29th minute.

LCCC added one more before the break as Cole Van Holland (Canton, S.D.) scored one minute later to push the advantage to 4-0.

Manny Tapia (Longmont, Colo.) made it a 5-0 game with a goal in the 85th minute. Declan Domyan (Sandton, South Africa) made two saves, earning a shutout. 

The Golden Eagles take on Central Wyoming, in Riverton, on Saturday at 11:00 am.
