CHEYENNE, WY - The No. 8 ranked Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (7-1-1) beat Otero (5-3) 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

It was another scoreless first half as for the second straight day, the Golden Eagles went into the locker room in a scoreless tie before opening the scoring early in the second half.

In the 58th minute, Carlos Vargas (Heber City, Utah) stepped to the spot and knocked in a penalty to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

LCCC added to the lead in the 62nd minute when Chuy Gonzalez (Caldwell, Idaho) took a pass from Cole Van Holland (Canton, S.D.) and beat the keeper at the near post to push the advantage to 2-0.

The Golden Eagles defense held Otero to just one shot on goal and only four shots for the game, earning the shutout.

The Golden Eagles hit the road on Friday, playing at Northwest at 3:00 pm.
