Vargas, Ramos score in loss to Utah State-Eastern

CHEYENNE, WY - Utah State-Eastern (1-1) scored three unanswered goals as the No. 14 ranked Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (1-1) suffered the first loss of the season, losing 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. 

The Golden Eagles wasted little time getting started as Carlos Vargas (Heber City, Utah) took a pass from Imourana Naite (New York, N.Y.) and beat the keeper on a shot from 12 yards out, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. The goal was Vargas' third of the season.

Jared Ramos (Thornton, Colo.) opened his account on the season, scoring on a feed from Daniel Barajas (Edwards, Colo.) extending the Golden Eagles' advantage to 2-0 in the 35th minute.

Before halftime, Utah State-Eastern cut the deficit in half, scoring a goal on a penalty in the 40th minute. USUE would then score two goals in the span of three minutes in the second half, tying the game in the 64th and taking the lead in the 67th.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, August 28, hosting Northeast Nebraska at 11:00 am.
