CHEYENNE, WY - Noe Ortiz-Pena (Aurora, Colo.) scored a ninth-minute goal, helping the No. 2 Golden Eagles (1-0) beat No. 17 Hill College (0-1) 1-0 on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the first ten minutes when Ortiz-Pena tapped in a cross from Manny Tapia (Longmont, Colo.), giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

LCCC had a chance to double their advantage by Carlos Vargas' (Heber City, Utah) penalty was stopped, keeping it a one-goal game. 

The Golden Eagles defense stepped up, holding Hill to just one shot on goal and five total shots.

Christian Nunez (Lafayette, Colo.) and Tapia each recorded two shots on goal.

The Golden Eagles will host Hill College once again tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
