Golden Eagles Defeat Western Wyoming Community College

The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team had its opportunities and were able to capitalize in a 3-0 Region IX North win over Western Wyoming Community College Saturday at LCCC Field.

The Golden Eagles (14-2, 8-0 in Region IX North) put up 22 shots with 11 on goal. Rafael Munoz (Las Vegas, Nevada) and Dana Smith (Parker, Colorado) led the team with three shots apiece. Smith got the Golden Eagles on the board in the 54th minute on a strike from 28-yards out. Jonathan Ruvalcaba (Provo, Utah) was credited with the assist. Munoz made it 2-0 in the 68th minute on a penalty kick. A minute later the Golden Eagles got the third as Blaine Christenson (Gillette, Wyoming) found Jorge Rosales (Aurora, Colorado) on a cross. Andrew Hays (Gillette, Wyoming) made three saves in the match.

Laramie County was awarded 10 corner kicks to the Mustangs one. The Golden Eagles committed nine fouls and the Mustangs committed 11 and recorded three yellow cards.

The Golden Eagles will host a first round Region IX Tournament game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against either Sheridan College or Central Community College.
