Laramie County CC freshman Jonathan Ruvalcaba scored a goal in the second half as the Golden Eagles captured a 1-0 Region IX North win over Western Nebraska Community College on Wednesday in Scottsbluff.
The Golden Eagles (13-2, 7-0 Region IX North) had their third consecutive shutout and ninth of the season. After a scoreless first half, Ruvalcaba was brought down in the penalty box in the 79th minute and converted on his kick. That gives him four goals on the year now.
LCCC finished the game with a 16-8 shots advantage with Rafael Munoz leading the way with eight and Tristan White had two. Andrew Hays played all 90 minutes in goal for the Golden Eagles and finished with six saves against the Cougars.
LCCC returns to action on Saturday against Western Wyoming Community College in the regular season finale. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at LCCC Field.
