Three Second Half Goals Lift LCCC to Win Over No. 15 Trinidad

The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team saw its winning streak increase to eight as they defeated No. 15 Trinidad State Junior College 3-0 on Friday afternoon at LCCC field.

Laramie County finished the affair besting the Trojans in shots, 15-13, including posting an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman Jonathan Ruvalcaba directed the offensive attack for the Golden Eagles as he recorded a team-best three shots. Four other Golden Eagles added two shots for LCCC. Emiliano Gomez sparked the Trojans with a game-high four shots.

Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Hays made seven saves for the Golden Eagles, while Haros pulled in eight. Hays has now posted five consecutive shutouts and six on the year.

LCCC (9-2) created some opportunities in the early stages of the match but were denied by goalkeeper Hector Haros and the goal post. Trinidad later responded about midway through the half with chances of their own. Both teams were scoreless at the half.

The Golden Eagles struck their first goal of the match in the 53rd minute when Adrian Cordova beat his defender down the end line and found an unmarked Ruvalcaba at the top of the box who finished his third goal of the season. LCCC added the second in the 62th minute when Tristan White combined on a 1-2 with Rafael Munoz for White's fifth goal of the season. Munoz now has seven assists on the year. In the 74th minute, freshman Wil Atencio took the ball down the sideline for the Golden Eagles and served a ball into the box where Caleb Rondon headed it home.

The Golden Eagles return to action hosting Otero Junior College Saturday Oct. 1. Game time at LCCC field is set for 1:30 p.m.
