The LCCC Golden Eagles earned a 2-0 victory over Northeastern Junior College on Wednesday evening.
The Golden Eagles led 1-0 at halftime on goal from sophomore Jordan Garcia in the 31st minute. The ball was loose in the box and Garcia was able to get his foot on the end it for the lead.
As Northeastern pressed forward to equalize the Golden Eagles were able to counter late in the match and Garcia spotted out Rafael Munoz who shot beat the outreached goalkeeper in the 87th minute.
Andrew Hays was in goal for the Golden Eagles and picked up six saves in the match. He also recorded his fifth consecutive shutout. The Golden Eagles totaled 23 shots and put 10 on goal.
LCCC (8-2) host No. 15 Trinidad State Junior College on Friday, Sept. 30 at LCCC field. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
