After playing his high school basketball in Denver, Colorado, Krubiel Workie attended Laramie County Community College in 2008-2009 as a member of the men's basketball team. He moved on to play at Baton Rouge Community College in the 2009-2010 season before finishing his collegiate career at St. Joes College in Standish, Maine where he graduated in 2015.

Workie continued his playing career as a professional where he spent a training camp with the Denver Nuggets before landing in Vancouver, Canada where he played for two and a half years with the Vancouver Bandits. 

After finishing his playing career, Workie accepted the head coaching job at Bruce Randolph High School in Denver where he led the boys basketball team to their most successful season ever, and had two of the top five scorers in the state of Colorado playing on his team. He moved on from that job to accept the assistant coach position at LCCC. 

Workie originally is from Ethiopia and continues to go back to his home country where he host basketball camps, and has been since 2017.
