Five Golden Eagle men and women pick up postseason honors

CHEYENNE, WY – The Laramie County Community College men’s and women’s basketball seasons have ended, but not without some postseason accolades being added to their accomplishments this season.

Five members of the two teams finished with some form of postseason honor.

On the women’s side, sophomore Lylah Spring and freshman Blanche Toualeu were honored with All-Conference awards from Region IX North. Spring was the top vote getter in the conference with 50 total points, edging out Sierra Eddie of Western Wyoming Community College for the honor.

Spring also was named to the All-Conference Defensive Team and was the top vote getter in that category as well with 27 total points, leading Anna Csenyi of Casper College who finished with 21.

Spring finished the season as the second leading scorer in the conference with 16.3 points per game. She was also the leading rebounder with 10.3 per game and averaged 2.5 blocks per game.

Toualeu finished in the top 10 of most categories in the conference as well, averaging 14.5 points (4th) and 8.6 rebounds (3rd) per game while dishing out 3.3 assists (2nd) per game.

On the men’s side, only one player was named to the All-Conference Region IX North team, with freshman Ejay Scroggins picking up an Honorable Mention.

Scroggins finished his rookie campaign with 12.7 points per game, which was 15th in the conference. His defense is where he shined the most, leading the conference with 2.8 steals per game. He also picked up 4.3 rebounds per game and had 2.6 assists per game.

Two Golden Eagles finished with All-Tournament Team honors for the Region IX Tournament. Jordan Reed and Abdullah Mahamed were selected to the team after the pair both finished with 19 points in the quarterfinals. Reed added seven rebounds and Mahamed finished with nine rebounds and two blocks as well.
