POWELL, WY - Freshman Xavier McCord (Cheyenne, Wyo.) recorded his third double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a Golden Eagles (5-9, 2-0) 82-74 win over Northwest (6-6, 0-2) on Saturday afternoon.

McCord helped close out the Trappers in the second half on Saturday, scoring 14 of his 22 points in the second frame as the Golden Eagles won their second consecutive game. 

LCCC used a series of runs to build a lead in the first half. Trailing by four midway through the half, Ghared Boyce (Brockton, Mass.) hit a three to cut the deficit to 10-9. Boyce finished with 14 points off the bench for the Golden Eagles. The tree from Boyce kickstarted a 12-0 run which was topped off by a Nolan Causwell (Duluth, Ga.) dunk to extend the LCCC lead to 18-10.

The Golden Eagles would end the half on a 14-3 run to take a 36-23 lead into halftime. 

Northwest started the second half with a 5-0 run to cut the Golden Eagles' lead to eight before an Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyo.) three put the lead back into double digits. 

Oliver ended the night with 15 points on 6-9 shooting. 

Arion Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 15 points while Ashraf Thadouwa (Toronto, Ontario) added seven. 

The Golden Eagles held off the Trappers who made a late run for an 82-74 win. 

LCCC heads to Casper to face the Thunderbirds on Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
