CHEYENNE, WY - The Golden Eagles (4-9, 1-0) outscored Eastern Wyoming 45-35 in the second half, erasing an 11-point deficit, beating Eastern Wyoming (7-5, 0-1) on Wednesday night at the RAC.
Ghared Boyce (Brockton, Mass.) scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the second half leading the Golden Eagles comeback.
Eastern Wyoming built an early lead, going on a 10-0 run to take a 10-3 lead to start the game. The Golden Eagles answered and responded with a 7-0 run capped off by an Ashraf Tchadouwa (Toronto, Ontario) layup to cut the deficit to 16-15.
Tchadouwa finished the game with five points and four rebounds.
The Golden Eagles regained the lead thanks to a Xavier McCord (Cheyenne, Wyo.) layup, giving LCCC a 23-21 advantage. The Golden Eagles matched their largest lead of the half when Boyce drove in for a layup, putting the Golden Eagles in front 32-29 before Eastern Wyoming ended the half on an 8-1 run to take a 37-33 halftime lead.
McCord scored 11 points and was tied for the team lead in rebounds with 11.
The Lancers opened the second half with a 13-6 run and jumped out to a 50-39 lead before a McCord layup stopped an Eastern Wyoming run.
Nolan Causwell (Duluth, Ga.) converted on a three-point play to pull the Golden Eagles to within five at 60-55. Causwell scored a career-high 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.
McCord completed the comeback, tying the game at 62 with a three from the top of the key before Boyce followed with a three of his own to give the Golden Eagles a 65-62 lead.
Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyo.) connected on a three to give the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the game at 73-65, finishing with 13 points.
Arion Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa) had 11 points and four assists in the win.
The Golden Eagles head to Powell to take on Northwest on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
