Golden Eagles Break Century Mark for First Win

CHEYENNE, WY - Ghared Boyce set a new career-high, scoring 29 points to help the Golden Eagles (1-1) knock-off North Platte (0-2) 116-93 to earn their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon at the RAC.

Boyce (Brockton, Mass.) followed up a career night on Friday with another career-high on Saturday, scoring 29 points and going 5-6 from the three-point line while grabbing five rebounds. The sophomore scored 22 of his 29 points in the first half as the Golden Eagles scored a season-high 62 first-half points. 

Xavier McCord (Cheyenne, Wyo.) scored 18 points in just his second game of his career and went 3-4 from the three-point line.

The Golden Eagles raced out to a 30-19 advantage halfway through the first-half thanks to an 8-0 run. The Golden Eagles wouldn't look back, opening up a 20 points advantage thanks to a Xavier McCord three. LCCC went into half leading 63-39 after a Boyce buzzer-beating three. 

LCCC and North Platte played almost even in the second half as the Golden Eagles broke the century mark for the first time this season, scoring 116 points in the win. 116 points is the most points scored by LCCC since the Golden Eagles scored 118 points against Williston State in the Fiesta Bowl Junior College Shootout in 2013. 

Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyo.) finished with 17 points, going 3-6 from three while Yusef Washington (Atlanta, Ga.) made his 2020-21 debut by scoring 16 points off the bench. Arion Lewis (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Marko Maletic (London, Ontario) were also in double figures with 15 and 10.
