LCCC drops shootout to McCook

CHEYENNE, WY - The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team opened its 2020-21 season with a 90-86 loss to McCook on Friday, January 22, at the RAC.

A slow start proved costly for the Golden Eagles as McCook came out firing, opening up a 12 points lead in the first half, the largest lead for either team. LCCC chipped away and were able to cut the deficit down to five at the break, trailing 52-47 before eventually taking a pair of one-point leads in the second half.

Ghared Boyce (Brockton, Mass.) led all scorers with 27 points, hitting four threes in six attempts, setting a pair of new career highs. Fellow sophomore Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyo.) scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds while dishing out a team-high five assists.

Marko Maletic (London, Ontario) made his LCCC debut by scoring 16 points on 5-5 shooting, hitting four threes. 

The Golden Eagles will look for their first win of the season on Saturday, January 23, when they host North Platte at the RAC at 4:00.
