Zovko and Oliver Score Team-High 18 Points in Loss to Pronghorns

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – At home for the first time in three games, the Laramie County Community College men's basketball clashed with Gillette College Pronghorns at the RAC Saturday afternoon. In a high-scoring affair, the Golden Eagles fell short to hot-shooting Gillette (19-2, 5-1) by a final score of 98-82.

The Golden Eagles battled for a majority of the first half by taking the lead early on before Gillette went on a 23-7 run. LCCC would chip away at the lead late in the half and trail 54-42 at the break. The Golden Eagles would make runs in the second half but each time Gillette would answer back and extend the lead.

The Golden Eagles shot 40.4 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from the three-point line. The Pronghorns shot 57.4 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three-point line.

Mateo Zovko (Mostar, Bosnia) and Erik Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) highlighted the offense for the Golden Eagles by each recording 18 points. Zovko was 4-of-10 from the field but shot 8-of-10 from the foul line while Oliver was 6-of-16 from the field and 5-of-5 from the foul line. Damien Perry (North Dartmouth, Massachusetts) hit three three-pointers and finished with 13 points. Kyle Cabs (Denver, Colorado) posted 12 points and six rebounds.

LCCC men's hoops will be back at home where they are set to face Northwest College this coming Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles will be in search of their second Region IX North win against a Trapper team they defeated on the road earlier in the month.
