LCCC Men’s Basketball Hits 11 3-Pointers in Home Win over Otero

CHEYENNE – Da'Zhon Wyche (Anchorage, Alaska) posted 30 points, while Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) finished with 23 points Friday as Laramie County Community College defeated Otero Junior College, 96-88 to earn its fourth Region IX South win.

The Golden Eagles bounced back from the loss at Trinidad and improved to 11-10 and 4-3 in the Region IX South. The Rattlers fell to 16-3 and 5-2 in Region IX South.

Laramie County hit 11 of 29 from 3-point range in the game, with Wyche knocking down four of them. Two other Golden Eagles scored in double figures as Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) came off the bench and added 19 points and Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) chipped in with 10 points.

Wyche added five assists and five steals to his performance, while Solomon Iluyomade (London, England) pulled down game-high 12 rebounds. Hayden Collier (Rangiora, New Zealand) recorded two blocks.

Josh McNair had 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead Otero JC, which shot 47.1 percent from the floor. Jonathan Scott had 13 points, Andre Arissol and Marquise Johnson had 11 and Jervae Robinson and Will Wittman added 10 each.

LCCC led throughout the first half and took a 48-39 lead into the half. The Golden Eagles would not let that lead slip in the second half.

Laramie County stays home for their next game, hosting Lamar Community College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
