Men’s Basketball Wins at Eastern Wyoming on Saturday

Torrington, Wyo. – Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) led the Golden Eagles with 28 points as Laramie County Community College won on the road, 89-79, at Eastern Wyoming College on Saturday afternoon in Torrington.

Da'Zhon Wyche (Anchorage, Alaska) had 24 points in his second game back in 38 minutes and Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) added 20 points. Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) chipped in with 13 points.

The Golden Eagles shot 49.2 percent from the field and only committed 10 turnovers.

Laramie County (9-9, 3-2) struggled to make baskets early in the first half, but a run midway through put the Golden Eagles ahead by double-digits. As the half expired LCCC led 44-31.

Eastern Wyoming (1-14, 0-4) try to stay within reach in the second half, cutting the lead down to as many as five but the Golden Eagles carried its lead throughout the second half.

Jonathan Morrobel led the Lancers with 21 points and seven rebounds in 32 minutes. Brandon Meadows finished with 19 points and seven rebounds. Eastern Wyoming shot 40.5 percent in the contest and outrebounded the Golden Eagles 38-32.

Laramie County will return home to the RAC on Wednesday, Jan. 10 against Northwest Kansas Technical College at 7 p.m.

Wednesday's game is High School appreciation night and all high students who wear their high school apparel will get free admission.
