LCCC Men’s Basketball Outpaced by #8 College of Southern Idaho, 107-96

TWIN FALLS – The Laramie County Community College men's basketball team suffered a loss to #8 College of Southern Idaho on Saturday, 107-96.

The Golden Eagles are now 8-8 heading into the holiday break while CSI rises to 13-1.

LCCC was led by Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) who hit 30 points on 11-of-24 from the field while hitting eight 3-pointers in the game. Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) notched 21 points and dished out nine assists. Solomon Iluyomade (London, England) had a team-high 16 rebounds and added another 14 points after shooting 5-for-8 from the field. Elijah Oliver added 16 points.

A 27-point effort from Charles Jones Jr. led the Golden Eagles or CSI, followed by 20 points from Khalid Thomas and 18 points from Danya Kingsby.

Both teams did not struggle with shooting, as the LCCC Golden Eagles shot 47.4 percent (36-for-76) from the field and CSI hit 50 percent (41-for-82). CSI had the edge on the boards, bringing down 44 rebounds to LCCC's 42.

The LCCC Golden Eagles led for majority of the first half, gapping College of Southern Idaho by as much as 12 after hitting five 3-pointers in the opening five minutes. The CSI Golden Eagles pushed back in the final five minutes, getting to within three at 51-48 at the halftime break.

A quick trey from CSI's Jones Jr. gave them an early lead in the second half and they pushed that lead to 16 with over 12 minutes left on the clock. A couple more three's from the Golden Eagles of LCCC kept them within reach, but LCCC were unable to stop CSI down the stretch.
