LCCC Men’s Basketball Drops Match at McCook CC

MCCOOK, Neb. – Despite three players scoring in double figures, Laramie County fell 68-57 to McCook Community College on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) led the Golden Eagles with 20 points on 8-of-18 from the field and 4-of-12 from the three-point line. Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) had a team-best two assists.

Mateen added 16 points and Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) had 10 points and went 4-of-4 from the foul line.

Laramie County (7-4, 1-1) trailed 33-25 at the break after the Indians were able to pull away midway through the first half. The Golden Eagles raced back in the second half and used a couple runs to cut the deficit but McCook would hang on in the end.

McCook (8-2) finished with three players in double figures, led by D'Von Moore with 21 points. Junathean Cunningham chipped in with 12 points and Chinedu Okonkwo had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

LCCC will be back at home and welcome Central Wyoming College on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
