Men’s Basketball Drops Tight Contest to Sheridan Generals, 99-96

CHEYENNE – Three players finished in double figures, led by Zaire Mateen (Queens, New York) with 45 points, but Laramie County Community College fell to the Sheridan Generals, 99-96 on Saturday.

Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) finished with 23 points and three rebounds despite being in foul trouble in the first half. Landon Taliaferro (Boulder, Colorado) contributed 10 points and three assists.

Sheridan led 42-34 at the half and held a lead early on in the second half. LCCC stormed back late in the second half to take the lead were up by one with 38.4 seconds remaining before Channel Banks knocked down two free-throws to regain the lead. Banks had 44 points for the Generals.

As a team LCCC shot 47.1 percent from the field. They were 46.4 percent from the three-point line.

The Golden Eagles hit the road on Tuesday for a matchup with Casper College at 6 p.m.
