Golden Eagles Run Down Rattlers, 81-74

LA JUNTA, Colorado – Laramie County Community College used a pair of second half runs on 56 percent shooting in the second half to hand Otero Junior College a defeat in a 81-74 victory Saturday in La Junta.

Leading by six at halftime, LCCC (17-9, 9-3) began the second half on a nice run with points coming from Da'Zhon Wyche to build LCCC largest lead of the afternoon to as high as 11. Otero quickly answered with a spurt Jervae Robinson lifting the Rattlers back into striking range.

The Golden Eagles put together another run late in the second half and closed the game out with some free throws. Wyche notched another 20 plus point game of the season with 26 points to lead Laramie County, going 16-of-18 from the free-throw line. Elijah Oliver added 14 points shooting 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Landon Teliaferro led the Golden Eagles in steals with two.

Robinson led the Rattlers with 19 points and two assists.

Laramie County shot 47.8 percent (22-of-46) while firing 50 percent (5-of-10) from long range. Otero shot 43.5 percent (27-of-62) from the floor but only 17.4 percent (4-of-23) from three.

LCCC is back at home for the rest of the regular season with a Wednesday matchup against North Platte Community College at the RAC.
