Golden Eagles Win on the Road at Northwest Kansas Tech, 98-88

Goodland, Kansas – The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles won their second straight game as they won 98-88 on the road against Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas. The Golden Eagles defeated NKTC earlier in the year 77-75 at home.

Saturday's game saw the Golden Eagles (15-9) lead at the half and not let it slip away. Da'Zhon Wyche (Anchorage, Alaska) scored a team-high 29 points which included a 7-of-8 showing from downtown, and 6-of-6 effort from the free throw line. He also had a team-high three steals in the game.

Sophomores Ola Ayodele (London, England) and Alfonzo Anderson (Newark, New Jersey) had 17 and 16 points, respectively. Ayodele connected on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor and a 3-of-3 performance from the charity stripe, while Anderson went 3-of-5 from deep and 3-of-5 from the foul line. Sophomore Harrison Meads (New Plymouth, New Zealand) and freshman Elijah Oliver (Cheyenne, Wyoming) had 10 points each. Anderson led the team in rebounds with 10 completing the double-double.

The Golden Eagles were whistled for 19 fouls, sending the Mavericks to the charity stripe 22 times while connecting with 17 of those attempts for a 77.3 percentage. The Golden Eagles attempted 26 free throws and drained 19 bonus buckets for a 73.1 percent showing.

For the game, the Golden Eagles shot 50.8 percent from the field collectively, including a 13-of-22 (.591) performance from deep. Northwest Kansas Tech used a 32-of-65 (.492) effort from the field and 7-of-20 (.350) performance from long distance. On the glass, LCCC held a slight 38-35 advantage as turnovers were tied at 15 apiece.

LCCC will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 10, traveling to Trinidad State Junior College at 7 p.m.
